Feeding And Sleeping Tips For New Moms

Hi moms!  Here’s important info you need for the first weeks of
bringing your little one home.

With your very first child, you should not decide everything based
on your motherly instinct.

You need to do some research and be acquainted with fundamental
childcare. After all, the little angel will be depending upon you for
survival.

The standard issues moms need to think about in their child’s very
first couple of weeks are
feeding and sleeping.

Feeding

Having the necessary nutrition is important to your infant’s
development. That’s why he or she should be fed with the correct
amount of milk at the best time.

You can provide your baby prepared formula. It is safe and healthy.
You should not blend
this with water though cause your baby may
not get enough calories.

The concentrated formula needs to be combined with water in a 1
to 1 ratio, though.

Amount

Typically, your baby will drink 1/2 ounce during feeding time the
first couple days.
This will
increase as time goes on.

Eventually, they will drink up to 4 to 5 ounces every feeding after a
couple of months. Between feedings, if cranky give them a pacifier.

It’s important to allow their previous intake to digest properly before
feeding them again.

If Feeding Them Formula

You need to check if your child is showing signs that the formula is
not fit for them. You may see regular vomiting, diarrhea, irregularity
or rashes.

This might suggest that the formula is not fit for her and might
need to be altered.

This is the reason why it is recommended that you breastfeed your
child if possible.
That is much better than any milk or formula in the
market.

I was breastfed til I was  5 months old. Some moms can’t breastfeed
though, and
shouldn’t feel guilty.

Interval

The general interval between feeding an infant is normally around 2
to 3 hours.

A common sign that you should watch for is crying that can’t be
stopped. That could mean
he’s not fed enough.

Proper Nourishment

You can also see if your baby is having sufficient nourishment by
checking the diaper.

During the feeding interval, the baby will typically have a wet diaper.
The urine color should be clear. The stool should be soft and
yellow.

Breastfed infants will normally pass stools 6 times in a day.

Babies on formula not as much but, a formula fed child is more likely
to develop constipation.

Sleeping

Infants typically sleep for 11 to 23 hours day. Any less can be
harmful to your child’s development.

Here are some ideas on how you can help your little one attain
the regular
length of sleep she should have.

-Make sure you have finished your routines prior to putting him to
sleep. That is feeding,
burping, and changing the diaper.

– Wrap your child firmly to avoid them from doing a lot of movement
that might interrupt their sleep. That will supply warmth also.

– Place your child on their back. Studies have shown this to be the
safest position.

It minimizes the chance of crib death or Sudden Infant Death
Syndrome.

OK, moms. I know you’ll get the hang of it!  Have a great day!
