How To develop Your Baby’s Interest In Reading

by

Hi moms!  Here I reveal some ways mom used to give me the desire
to want
to read. They might help your little one too.

From my earliest memories, mom read to me every day. It was a part
of our routine. Now she reads every day to my little brother Ricky.

Picture Books

At first, she showed me books with pictures. She would tell me what
the image
was that she was pointing to. Then encouraged me to
repeat after her.

Like cartoon images of animals. Then a book with real pictures of
animals and what
they were called.

Reading To Me

In time, she bought children’s books with words. Stories about day to
day activities.

After reading a different book for a few days, mom would start over
with the first
book again.

It helped develop my memory, cause I could remember what
came next.

Bedtime Stories

I loved hearing mom’s voice. After reading a bedtime story slowly for
a while, her
soothing voice usually put me to sleep.

Emotion

Shortly after I grew up and became a tot, mom started reading fairy
tales. She would
alter her voice depending on the character that was
talking.

Also, she changed her tone at times, depending on the emotion
of the storyline.

Ask Questions

After I could talk, mom started asking me questions about a book she
had read to me
more than once.

She would challenge my memory. Don’t get discouraged if they
don’t
give the right answer. Every child is different. In time, they will!

Nursery Rhymes

Another thing that helped was singing nursery rhymes I learned from
mom. Singing
helps our memory remember the words. We learn the
words that come
 next, based
on the melody.

Educate

We then graduated to more complex stories that were educating.
Stories about
real life outside our home.

I was hooked! I began to learn the basics of language. Both
words and numbers. I wanted to read books myself!

I’m sure the importance of reading was instilled in me when I
listened to mom read
during our routine.

I know for me, the reading habit will stay with me for a lifetime!

Happy reading!
