How To Spot Signs of Baby Eczema

by

Hi moms!  This article is about eczema. What it is, how baby might
get it, and what you can do.

Eczema is a fairly common problem that can occur in a baby. The
most typical kind is atopic dermatitis. It can be recognized by dry,
red, and many times real itchy skin.

This condition can show up anywhere on their body. Particularly on
the face, arms, and neck.

Reasons

There are lots of factors that can cause this. Often, it’s inherited
from a family member. One suffering from something similar like
psoriasis.

With a young child though, it can be tough to know the most likely
reason. There are some things that can be done to decrease
the
symptoms, though.

Remove The Source

Remember that it’s usually an allergic response to an irritant. So
get rid of any possible source it could be coming from.

Vacuum as well as dust on a regular basis to remove irritants.
Floors without carpeting are the best, actually. Carpets can
attract dust and mites.

Air your home on a regular basis. If you have a family pet,
ensure that their hair does not get near baby.

Also, make sure any object baby touches is free from pet
hair.

Clothing

Wash your baby’s bedding and clothes with a gentle detergent.

You can buy silk clothes that are ideal for their sensitive skin.
Cotton is nice and soft also.

Fitting them with cotton mittens can stop them from
scratching their face.

Bathing

Bathing your child can sometimes dry out the skin. Use lukewarm
water and carefully pat baby dry.

There are medicated moisturizers you can add to the bath. They
can also be applied
throughout the day.

You need to talk to your baby doctor first, though. Even before
using anything from a health store.

Diet

With some babies, their diet could be a reason for their eczema.
Even if mom breastfeeds!

Keep in mind that your diet can influence your infant. Talk to your
pediatrician. Find out the best diet for both you and your child.

Cradle Cap

What is commonly known as cradle cap can sometimes develop
in babies with eczema.

Cradle cap doesn’t itch like eczema, yet it needs to be treated
cause it can create a thick
scab on the scalp.

Talk with your baby doctor if your child develops this. They can
give you
pointers on exactly how to remove it. If not done right,
it can harm the skin and may cause
an infection.

Asthma

Thankfully, my sister, brother, and I have never had eczema so
far. For those who do, it does
tend to improve as they age.

However, some victims can develop other problems such as
asthma. So, try to maintain as healthy an atmosphere as
possible. One without dust and
other irritants.

Hope that helps, moms. Have a nice day!
