How Stay At Home Moms Can Stay Productive
Hi moms! In this post, we’re going to look at ways on how to be
productive as a stay at home mom.
We’ll cover when to get up and what to do first. We’ll also talk about
planning and motivation.
I’ve watched mom and I can see being a stay at home mom is challenging.
Of course, running a house for working moms must be too.
Mom says the trick is to have a plan and to stay motivated. Lack of a
proper plan must be stressful and staying motivated leads to getting things
done.
Start With An Early Day
Mom starts the day before us. She takes a shower and puts her makeup
on. She then has a cup of coffee.
Planning
Mom actually has her day planned out from the night before. She says she
sleeps better that way. Before she would toss and turn thinking about what
to do the next day.

Schedule
Schedule your chores and try to limit each one to a certain amount of time.
Using an organizer and scheduling your tasks can be very helpful
throughout the day. Some even include a weekly schedule.
“Using a weekly schedule I can also see if the end of the week is extra
busy and I need to get those tasks done immediately.
Ideally, I try to make sure that I complete something that I must do and
something that I want to do during naptime.
When the kiddos wake up, I feel accomplished and hopefully like I got a
bit of a break too.” themomsatodds.com
Some moms schedule 1 task for each day of the week. For example, if you
have enough clothes for a week, you can do laundry every Saturday.
If you know a certain day of the week is busy, you can plan a small chore
that won’t take much time.
Coffee
While drinking her coffee, mom reads God’s word. She says it helps give
her wisdom for tackling the upcoming day.
Plan B
She then decides what she will do if something unexpected happens. A
plan B as in backup. For example, let’s say she runs out of something she
needs that day.
Is there someone who can watch us? Will she take us with her? What time
of the day is best to go?
Dad, who was in the army, says it’s called a contingency plan.
Morning Routine
It’s best to tackle the hardest jobs first.
After bed making and breakfast of course. It doesn’t have to be an actually
difficult chore, just the ones you dislike the most. Then, the rest of the
day is downhill!
Staying Motivated
One of the best motivators to being productive is looking forward to your
personal time.
If you plan out your day and include time for yourself, you always have
that to look forward to when your done!
You can include your personal time throughout the day at different intervals
or have it all at the end of the day when you’re done. Whatever works best.
Cleaning
Dishes
Always try to wash the dishes right after the meal. They can build up
quickly and clutter the countertop.
The longer you let them build up, the more you will dread cleaning
them.
Getting Rid Of Clutter
“A tiny amount of clutter can make even the tidiest of houses look messy.
When rooms are decluttered and have been well organized they instantly
look cleaner.
One of the best tips a mom can follow and add to her cleaning routine is to
declutter and eliminate or throw away any unnecessary items.
This includes throwing unused items out, putting things into storage, and
donating anything that is not needed.” homeviable.com
Kids Helping With Cleaning
You can teach your older children on how to perform house chores. Even
toddlers can do some things!
Mom has taught my sister and me how to dust. Just the big things. Mom
does the little knick-knacks for example.
We might break them! My 3 year old sister Harper can also vacuum the
floor.
Facebook Groups
You can join facebook groups for moms. You may learn new ideas from
the experiences of other moms. They might be helped by you, too!
Time With Kids
Set aside time to interact with your kids. Mom spends time with each of us.
Sometimes I use this time with her to ask questions about an upcoming
topic I’m writing for you guys!
Date Night
Some moms schedule a night alone with their husband during the week.
“Staying connected with your partner while raising children can sometimes
take the backseat, so always take the opportunity to have some quality
alone time with them.
Go out on a date or to a movie, you can even take the kids to a babysitter
and have a movie night at home, just the two of you! This will be good for
both you, your husband, and your kids!” thejessiek.com
That All Sounds Good But…
What if you have a new baby under 3 or 4 months old? Baby may want to
nurse a lot or is unpredictable.
“Relax about the housework. Your house isn’t suppose to be perfect when
you have small children. Even if it was perfect, it wouldn’t be that way for
long.
Shoot for one chore per day that is not dishes or laundry. If all you can do
in a day is dishes and laundry, then just do dishes and laundry!”

Share what your scheduler looks like with your husband. Ask him for a little
help, especially if he only works 8 hours a day. Even if it’s only 1 task he
does, that can really help.
After the first 3 or 4 months, most babies will settle into more of a routine
that you will be able to predict. You can then be more confident as you plan
your day.
Ok moms, last but not least, pray for guidance and strength. God will give it
to you. After all, He’s lending you His child to bring them up into this
world.
He sent your little one down here for a reason… more motivation!
Have a great day!
