11 Working Mom Tips To Change Your World

by | Jul 31, 2019

Hi moms!  Being called mommy must be really cool. Being a working
mom could be very hectic
and crazy, though.

You may have to alter your normal work schedule to rush home to a
sick baby.

Some may have to hurry from work to pick kids up from school.

With babies, you might have many sleepless nights trying to give
them hugs and kisses
to put them to sleep.

Without enough support from daddy and other people, this must be
really stressful. As crazy as this might sound though, all hope is not
lost.

This post will give an in-depth discussion of the tips that can help
you as a mom.
It might even be life changing!

I’ll cover how to be a better employee at work.

How to be more productive at home.

The secret of getting more done and having an easier time.
(It’s a technique that will make your day much easier)

Also, creating balance with your family.

 How To Be More Productive

1. Set A Boundary Between Work And Family

To be productive and innovative at work, you need to have
confidence in your caregiver.

Then you can focus on your work and not worry about your child.
This does not mean you should completely neglect your child, though.

For example, if your child falls sick during working hours, you can ask
to leave. Overall, this will help you to work efficiently
and be innovative.

“A good childcare provider should have extensive experience,
excellent references, and
a record to prove it.

A good daycare facility should have flexible hours, a low teacher-
to-
student ratio, outdoor space, up-to-date licenses, and
employees who have had their
backgrounds checked.”

2. Avoid Time Wastage And Distraction

You should make sure you maximize your working time. At the office
have talks with your workmates during breaks and lunch hours.

Do you get off work at 3:00 PM? Be bold enough to ask your boss if
you could work
through lunch and get off at 2:30.

You could eat during your breaks and pick your child up from school.
Maybe they say no, but you can start a half hour earlier.

It’s worth a try.

By law, you can now bring your breast pump to work! By pumping at
work, it will free up
more time for you at home.

Stay away from excessive use of the internet when you’re home.
Surfing the web can eat
up a lot of your time.

Minimizing this can open up more time for your house duties. Also,
give you more time with the kids.

3. Set Realistic Daily Goals

Use a daily schedule to list down all tasks you should carry out during
the day both at work
and at home.

Remember also to include the time in which every activity should be
carried
out. Do this to make sure all things are done within the proper
time.

“Even though this is a digital era and I really appreciate all things
electronic, there’s
something about a paper planner that helps put
everything in perspective.

I use my planner to schedule out each week, and the tasks I need
to do daily so that I can quickly see what’s
coming up and plan
around it.”

If you have a planner app, that can do just as well. As long as you have
one that works for you.

4. The Pomodoro Technique

You can use this method for getting your chores done at home. It’s
normally 25 minutes of
work. Then 5 minutes of rest. Four times.

Then the fourth break is a half hour of rest. You can experiment with
what works best. Include what you decide into your daily planner.

Julie from fabworkingmomlife.com says “Taking regular breaks
gives your brain a chance to
relax and reset.

Knowing that you only have to work for a short period of time
makes it much
easier to stay engaged and motivated.

The technique works well with intellectual, manual, and creative
tasks.”

She says it’s important to use a timer, but not be able to see it.

Turn the alarm clock around. You can use a timer on your phone. They
also have a Pomodoro app you can use.

5. Get Enough Sleep

Without having time to sleep, you can neither be a good mother nor a
good employee. Include
sleeping time in your daily schedule; ideally,
you should have a minimum of 7 hours of sleep.

Enough sleep is beneficial in getting you to function the following day
effectively. It makes you
productive at work and at home.

6. Prioritize Your Activities

Learn to say no.You have to learn to say no to activities that do not
add  much value to your home and work goals.

“When it comes to people asking for your time (hey can you come
help with this or that),
stop trying to “fit them in” when you can
barely keep your eyes open as it is!

I promise –they’ll be ok and will find someone else to help them!
(Oh, and the world will go on
without your help!)

So says LeeAnn at girlbossesrock.com from an article about self-care
for moms.

7. Have Time To Exercise

“Exercise is extensively linked to positive emotion. It promotes
natural boosts in our
mood,” Carpenter says.

“Maintaining a regular exercise routine can reduce anxiety and
stress in our lives.”
From an article on mindfulreturn.com about
moms fitting in exercise.   Read here

Juggling both work and family could be hectic; This should not make
you forget your body,
though. Always take time to exercise because it
is good for your mind.

Remember, a sound mind results in productivity. It also increases
the “happy” hormones!

8. Interact With Other Moms

Other mothers can be a great source of information for you. From them,
you can learn how they
carry out their work and home activities.

Create a network with moms who have a positive outlook on motherhood
and are happy about it.
They might also make you feel the same!

Family Balance

9. Create Time For Your Spouse

The fact that you are working and are also a mom should not make you
neglect your husband.

Often moms keep themselves busy with work and the children, and they
tend to forget their spouses.

Moms should have time to go for dates. Also, have time to talk and have
a good time together.

10. Organize Family Activities

Well organized family activities are crucial because they give you time to
bond with your kids.

They could be done on weekends. To find an excellent activity to do
with your kids, you might
focus on their hobbies or interest.

11. Stay Connected With Your Kids Even While At Work

You might be wondering how this could happen. It’s as simple as doing
video calls with your kids.
You can record yourself while talking, then
sending them the videos.

This should not be done during working hours, though. Do it during
lunchtime and breaks.

Conclusion

Being a working mom has never been easy, I bet. But, with some of the
insights given in this
article, juggling home and work may have gotten
easier.

The post also clearly shows you how to be a mommy and still remain
very productive at work.
